SING, O thou happy habitant

Of Christ the everlasting Rock;

Secure in Love’s imprisonment

From sin’s assault and Satan’s shock

This mighty Rock is ever sure,

’Twas riv’n for thy sake long ago,

All those shall evermore endure

Who this enduring Hiding know.

Sing, happy dove, within the cleft

Of this Rock-Fortress high and strong,

With joy, of every care bereft,

Out-sing, the happy angels song.

4.

Speak to this Rock alone, apart,

And sparkling waters will out-burst

Waters to bless thy barren heart

And quench thy constant, killing thirst,

5.

Here honey heav’nly sweet is found,

Here golden oil of gladness springs,

Here fire, while angels stand around

Consumes thy daily offerings.
